With feedback from our Tribe, and public response, it was requested that we make another smaller blade. This blade system, with integrative combatives & tactics in mind, was designed for a 3-finger grip to allow the hand to firmly grip your firearms with your thumb and forefinger confidently and securely.
The Fledgling, like its parent blade Crane’s Beak, is a blade optimally designed for puncturing power. The major difference between the two is its overall size being much more ideally suited to covert and discreet concealed carry. We’ve extensively tested its penetrating powers through various materials, and can state that organic materials, and withdrawal from, is a non-issue. One of our pre-production models has been dropped on concrete in multiple demonstrations tip-first and took no noticeable tip damage and was left 100% serviceable.
Additionally, we spent quite a bit of man-hours developing a deep pocket sheath, and we think once you get your hands on it, you’ll realize its full potential, as its design streamlines super discreet carry and silent & smooth deployment.
Our full package is an operative system; the Trainer being very hi-viz to minimize mistakes in training, and when the Trainer is in your live sheath, it stands out because of the stark color contrast. No more driving home with a training blade where your live blade should be because they feel so similar otherwise. Also, the blaze orange handle and bright blade indicate to your brothers that you are ready to train.
Very awesome package for anyone looking for a SOLID defensive blade. The quality of blade/trainer and kydex sheaths for each is absolutely incredible. At this price point you won’t find anything close to the quality Schultz Bladeworks puts out.
Bonus points to the owner for being willing to answer questions through DMs. Customer service is there.

My Fledgling is n early proto model and it came with a belt sheath. I recently purchased a pocket sheath from Schultz and Wow! The package is impossible to beat.
The blade itself is a perfect space maker that’s tough as nails and perfect in hand with fast deployment.
The pocket sheath is reversible and has a notch cut out for the thumb to aid in taking the knife out easily. It sits soooo low but is somehow very easy to deploy and is extremely stealthy and unnoticed. Amazing product.

I’ve heard people say that they can carry something and forget it’s there. I always thought that was bs, until I received my Fledgling. Sit, stand, walk, whatever you’re doing you will forget it’s on your hip (my preferred iwb location for it) or in your pocket. It doesn’t print no matter how hard I try. Deploys naturally on command, and has that HORRIFICALLY SHARP edge I’ve come to expect from Schultz Blades. Want that little friend that blends in and deals damage? Then the Fledgling is for you.
sin·is·ter /ˈsinistər/ adjective late Middle English (in the sense ‘malicious, underhand’): from Old French sinistre or Latin sinister ‘left’. The blade that engendered the rest. Born of fire, with applied pressure, diligence, and attention to detail, the Riddle of Steel produced Sinister. As a lifelong martial arts practitioner, I was carrying a Buck folding knife at a very young age and have carried/used some sort of blade since. Almost four decades later, the current lineup of blades (Dexter and Crane’s Beak) were brought into existence built upon the principled structure of that…
The Crane’s Beak. Born from a lifetime of martial arts training, embodied in this blade are the principles gleaned over those decades. Likened to Fairbairn-Sykes dagger due to its narrow profile and feel in the hand, the features of this blade are a more modern approach to that blade’s heavily vetted design. The Crane’s Beak blade is a streamlined, distilled version of Sinister, serving as a more focused intent to puncture, and post-penetration leveraging. Although narrow from a profile viewpoint, the blade is thick (3/16″) and quite easily…
ALL NEW FULL TRAINING PACKAGE! We’ve added a Dexter training blade (and sheath), made from 6061 aluminum, so that you can really lean-in to blade training. The trainer is hi-viz, reducing any mistakes of live blades on the floor. When the trainer is on-body, your live, lo-viz blade lives in the orange training sheath, helping remind you at the end of training to switch out your gear. VERY competitive pricing. Unique forward cant aligns the blade naturally in-hand, optimal for thrusting & puncturing. If you can point…
